KNIFE INFOS

victorinox factoryVictorinox and Wenger are the only official producers of Swiss Army Knives.

All knives manufactured in Switzerland, and are of excellent quality.

 

Warranty

Victorinox and Wenger guarantee their knives to be of first class stainless steel and offer a life time warranty against any defects in material and workmanship. Warranty for electrical parts (i.e. clocks, LED lights) is 2 years.

Damages caused by wear and tear, misuse and abuse are not covered by this guarantee. (Note: We will only answer questions concerning warranty/repair if the knife was purchased from us.)

History of Victorinox

1884: Founded by Karl Elsener

1891: First delivery of soldier's knives to the Swiss Army

1897: Official registration of the "officer and sport knife"

1909: Swiss cross decorates the red knife handles

1909: New name "VICTORIA" (name of Karl Elsener's mother)

1921: Stainless steel, "INOX" (new company name VICTORINOX)

1945-1949: Sales to PX stores of the US Army, the Navy and the Airforce in Europe

1945–91: Continuous development of the product range and automation of the manufacturing procedures

1999: Annual turnover CHF 260 millions. 90% export in more than 100 countries. 950 employees in Ibach, 150 employees abroad. Approx. 800 machines. Manufacturing surface 31'900 m2. Family shareholding company since 1979.

1999: To strenghten the brand "Victorinox" and to diversify, luggage items are developed. Those items are produced under license, following strict quality rules.

1999: The watch segment is expanded by the foundation of the new division "Victorinox Watch SA" in Bonfol, Switzerland.

2001: For the North American market, business and casual wear collections are produced. They follow the same high standards as the "Swiss Army Knife".

2002: Victorinox becomes the sole shareholder of Swiss Army Brands Inc., USA.

2005: Victorinox takes over the company Wenger. The intention is to strenghten the product "Swiss Army Knife" and to guarantee that the production continues to be solely in Switzerland.

Both brands continue the production in their factories (Victorinox is located in Ibach, Wenger is located in Delémont).

 

History of Wenger

1893: Paul Boechat & Cie receives contract from Swiss Army

1895: entrepreneurs bought Boechat and built a new plant

1897: Theodore Wenger was hired to be General Manager.

1900: built a new 18,000 square foot facility

1905: Wenger acquires company, renames it Wenger et Cie

1905-2005: Continuing growth of company

2005: Victorinox takes over the company Wenger. The intention is to strenghten the product "Swiss Army Knife" and to guarantee that the production continues to be solely in Switzerland.

Both brands continue the production in their factories (Victorinox is located in Ibach, Wenger is located in Delémont).
