Blades that do not move easily: Open and close a few times in warm water, and then... |

The "mysterious" multi-purpose hook that is included with many knives can be used i.e. to open a can of sardines, to pull out a tent peg, or in recycling-crazy Switzerland to carry a tied-up bunch of old newspapers out of the house, using the knife body as a comfortable grip.
How to use the can opener: Place the opener on the can so that the hook gets a firm hold on the underside of the tin, then forcethe cutting-edge into the lid by gently raising the knife handle. Important: Keep the cutting-edge close to the rim. Cut no deeper than the small screwdriver shank

If there is no sufficient space for a long screwdriver, open the screwdriver of the Swiss Army Knife only to 90° instead of 180°.
The miniscrewdriver (stored in the corkscrew) is helpful to make the screws of i.e. glasses tight again.
The corkscrew helps to open knots at parcels or shoes.

The hook discorger and ruler can be used (together with a pencil) to draw a line along a wood board.
