HistoryIn 1865, Charles Reuge, who was 26 years old at the time, left his village and set out for Sainte-Croix (Switzerland). He was a watchmaker, had never before set foot outside Buttes in the Val de Travers, and was already dreaming of the wonderful products he would be creating. At Sainte-Croix, alive with craftsmanship and commercial activity, he found the setting in which to make his dreams come true. His fingers fashioned musical watches, automata and "complication" watches to entrace the nobility of Europe and Asia. In 1886, his son Albert opened the first "comptoir" (place for trading), at which musical movements were sold under the name of Reuge which has since become a symbol of luxury and quality around the world.
