Our song lists (see menu on the left) are organized by the number of tunes and tonal range of a movement.

A sample: "4.144" means 4 songs per cylinder, tonal range of 144 notes.

Discontinued Movements

Our Song Lists contain many tunes that are no more produced, but may still be in our stock.

The following movement sizes are currently no more produced by Reuge: 1.18, 1.28, 1.50, 3.50, 4.50

Play Duration of Musical Mechanisms

The total duration that the music can play before it has to be wound-up again depends on the steel spring that powers the mechanism.

The duration each tune plays depends mostly on the diameter of the cylinder. (A thick cylinder takes longer for one revolution, therefore plays longer.)

4.144 Movement: Total playtime 15-27 minutes; per tune 50 seconds

3.144 Movement: Total playtime 12-35 minutes; per tune 36 seconds

3.72 Movement: Total playtime about 12 minutes; per tune 36 seconds

1.36 Movement: Total playtime about 8 minutes; per tune 32 seconds

1.18 Movement: Total playtime about 4 minutes; per tune 15 seconds

Difference between "Reuge" and "Romance"

All movements on our Song Lists are produced by Reuge. While some movements are labelled "Reuge", others are labelled "Romance".

The quality of the two labels is the same. The difference (until year 2005): movements called "Reuge" were put in the box directly by Reuge, movements called "Romance" were put by third parties into their own boxes (as we do with musicboxes in the section "Our Collection"). However in 2005, Reuge started to sometimes call the movements of lower-priced original Reuge musicboxes "Romance".
